The fundraisers begins Thursday, and runs through December 23. Also, the Zoo Mobile will be parked outside the mall with animals during every weekend of the fundraiser. Animals will be available from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
The Zoo Mobile is an education program, and brings several animals to different locations around the region. Each weekend, a different animals will be on site. Kids and adults can learn about various animals, ask questions, and even pet the animals.
Some different species attending the event include a woodchuck, an armadillo, birds, and a striped skunk.
According to zoo educators, it provides a fun and interactive way for people to experience the animals up close and personal.
"These guys, the more they interact with people with the public, it's a form of enrichment for them, it's a form of socializing and that's important for them. It's also important for the public because it's educational," said Ian Jensen, Binghamton Zoo Educational Program Specialist.
Every day during the week, the zoo will have a table set up in the mall with merchandise from the zoo gift shop, adoption information, animal paintings, and other gifts.
