Authorities continue to investigate an unidentified body found in Chenango County Tuesday night. There's still no word on who the remains belong to, but many people are wondering if it could be the body of the missing New Berlin woman Jennifer Ramsaran. Our Melissa Kakareka spoke with Ramsaran's family and friends as they wait for more information.
CHENANGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- Jennifer Ramsaran was last seen on December 11th. The mother of three told her husband she was going to Destiny USA in Syracuse before she disappeared. Family and friends have spent the past two-and-a-half months waiting for her to come home.
"Not knowing is the toughest. Her mom and dad have been searching endlessly along with everybody else, but it's tough," said family friend David Drew.
Now, they are waiting to find out if a body discovered in Chenango County belongs to Jennifer.
"I can't wrap my head around it. That's not remotely where I have been these last two months or so," said Jennifer's husband Ganesh Remy Ramsaran.
Investigators found a woman's body near Center Road in the Town of Pharsalia Tuesday night. That's not far from where Ramsaran's car and cell phone were found. The body was taken to the medical examiner's office in Syracuse for an autopsy. Authorities in Chenango County still have not identified the remains and don't know how long that will take.
Ramsaran's family says detectives did visit the home Tuesday night.
"They stopped by last night at 11:20 p.m. They called downstairs. They just wanted to confirm who our dentist was and more importantly, they were just here to tell me about the body they had found," said Ganesh Remy Ramsaran.
Jennifer Ramsaran's family and friends continue to hope for the best.
"Our family, we just have to stick together and stay strong. Wait and see. Hope that it's not," said Ramsaran.
"Right now it's speculation, that's all we go by. We'd rather have her back, the family would rather have her back," said Drew.
Anyone with information about Jennifer Ramsaran or the unidentified body should call the Chenango County Sheriff's Office at (607) 337-1924 or (607) 337-1864.
