Seton Catholic students give valentine’s gift boxes

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Some families may not have the money to buy their child a present on Valentine's Day, but students at Seton Catholic Central High School stepped in to help.

The students collected personal care items such as shampoo and toothbrushes throughout the month of February and then assembled the items into boxes. Catholic Charities picked up the boxes Thursday morning and distributed them to families in need so that less fortunate children would get a holiday gift.

Students who participated say they felt it was important to give back to their community.

"You're doing something for somebody in need. We might take these things for granted, we get these things every day, but other people that don't have them, it means the world to them, so I think it’s important that we do this," said Nicole Keefe, Seton Catholic Central Student Council Board Member.

The students put together a total of 55 gift boxes.
