SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse police have identified the man who was shot to death early Sunday morning at a home on Highland Street.

Angelo Jenkins, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim, a 28-year-old woman, was also shot. She was originally listed in critical condition but has been upgraded and is expected to survive.

Police say Jenkins and the home at 1041 Highland Street are both known to them, but right now they need help piecing together exactly what happened.

Sgt. Tom Connellan said, "We are appealing to the public right now, to anyone that may have any information about what occurred at 1041 Highland Street this morning prior to the shooting. We are looking for witnesses. We're looking for anyone who may have heard or seen anything."

Police say this homicide was not a random act. They believe the home or victims were specifically targeted.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (315) 442-5222. All calls will be kept confidential. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
