JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on the Thousand Islands Bridge for about a half hour Friday after a crash cut off traffic. It happened on the Wellesley Island side of the bridge.
The Thousand Island Bridge Authority had to bring in sanders to put grit down on the road surface. A medivac helicopter was also flown in to take one person to the hospital. There's no word on their condition, but they are being treated at Upstate in Syracuse.
The victim was reportedly trapped in the car and had to be freed using the jaws of life.
