NEW YORK STATE -- A decision on hydrofracking in New York is being pushed back until next year.

Governor Andrew Cuomo says a health study of proposed fracking regulations will not be finished in time. The original deadline was set for November 29th.

The expert panel looking at health effects was named last week and will need months to complete its work.

Hydraulic fracturing has been a hot button issue across the state. Supporters say it could bring millions of dollars into the upstate economy.

Opponents are worried about environmental damage drilling could cause.

Hydrofracking uses chemical laced water to release natural gas deposits.
