OCEAN CITY, Md. -- Family and friends from Central New York head down to Ocean City, Maryland to help search for a Groton man who disappeared over the weekend.

Police say Lance Gaines, 22, was last seen on Saturday at a bar near the hotel where he was staying. Gaines was on vacation with his family.

Family members say Gaines went for a walk, then out to the bar. He sent a text message to his girlfriend just after midnight and according to the family, then sent what is believed to be a video message around 1 a.m. However, the content of the file or where that message went is not yet known.

About 20 people have been helping authorities with the search, handing out fliers and asking for information.

"Going around, passing out fliers, posting on Facebook. It's blowing up on the internet. Calling down family. We've all gone out. We were out until midnight last night handling out fliers, posting them to businesses that were open. Mainly just getting the word out there," said sister-in-law Gabrielle Gaines.

Gabrielle Gaines says if Lance is not found in a few days, authorities will start searching the water.

Lance is six-foot-four and 190 pounds, last seen wearing a gray hoodie. Anyone with information is asked to contact Ocean City police, or call 911. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
